Bio

Dr. Torrey is faculty within the division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. Originally from San Jose, California then northern Kentucky, he moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for his undergraduate degree, biomedical lab work, and medical degree. He completed his Internal Medicine / Pediatrics combined residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland / Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, graduating in the Leadership in Medical Education track and Patient and Community Advocacy track. He served as Chief Resident before completing a fellowship in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. Dr. Torrey has been a dual Med-Peds hospitalist as faculty at OSU / Nationwide Children's in Columbus, Ohio and now at IU Riley and Eskenazi in Indianapolis. He has dabbled in quality improvement work including high value care especially regarding test utilization, and various projects in hospital operations and efficiency. He continues to find ways to unify his inpatient work with patient advocacy and health outreach. Dr. Torrey is passionate about medical education, including bedside teaching and communication, discussions of clinical reasoning, and effective dissemination of evolving medical literature between peers. His most recent step has been stepping into the role of Program Director of the Riley PHM Fellowship, as well as facilitating coursework at the undergraduate medical education level.
