Bio

Matthias Clauss was born and raised close to Munich, Germany. He completed his undergraduate and master training in chemistry at the University in Ulm, Germany. After having received his PhD from the University of Heidelberg in cancer research, he completed his postdoctoral research at the Columbia University in New York. After intermittent activities at Max-Planck-Institutes in Germany, he joined the Indiana University School Medicine as faculty.

Matthias Clauss is dedicated to biomedical research and aims to elucidate the role of aging, viral infections and chronic inflammation in cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, holds four US patents and is co-founder of several start up companies, which aim to treat COPD/emphysema, pulmonary hypertension, acute lung injury and to eradicate latent HIV infection.
