Bio

Dr. Mojgan Sarmadi is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the IU School of Medicine. She studied biochemistry at the University of Maryland at College Park. As an undergraduate student, she had the honor of working for Dr Richard Highton. She went on to the University of Maryland School of Dentistry at Baltimore where she she lead the student government and was the student rep to the board of regents for her campus. She received the student of the year leadership award and graduated in 1996 as the school valedictorian with a DDS. She completed her dental residency at the University of Michigan followed by a research fellowship in geriatric dentistry working in tissue engineering in Ann Arbor with Dr Paul Krebsbach. She went on to obtain her MD from the University of Michigan in 2003 while also working as an adjunct lecturer/clinical instructor of oral medicine, and research associate in periodontics. During this time, she was the president of the American Medical Student Association at U of M and the student rep at the county medical society. She went on to research and private dental practice before starting her medical internship in NJ at Hunterdon Medical Center, an affiliate of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She later joined her family in Indiana and finished her Family Medicine residency training at St Francis Franciscan Hospital in Indiana. She was accepted as a clinical research fellow at the NIH/NIDCR participating in cutting edge oral Immunology research in Bethesda, Maryland. She subsequently entered private medical practice and returned to Indiana while invited as a special volunteer with the NIH. She is board certified in family medicine and currently volunteers as a family medicine physician in Lafayette. She is a clinical assistant professor of medicine and serves as site-leader for Foundations of Clinical Practice 1 and 2, Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Microbiology & Immunology, a member of  IRB board of Purdue University and the DIF panel of the ABFM. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, students and patients. Loves painting and teaching about oral health.
