Bio

Dr. Roopa Rao is an advanced heart failure cardiologist and serves as the Director of the Heart Transplant and LVAD Program as well as the Director of the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) Program at Indiana University. She completed her internal medicine residency and cardiovascular fellowship at Indiana University, where she developed a strong foundation in complex heart failure care.

Dr. Rao specializes in the management of advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support (LVAD), and heart transplantation. Her clinical expertise also includes the care of pregnant patients with heart failure, as well as those with infiltrative and genetic cardiomyopathies such as amyloidosis, sarcoidosis, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She is passionate about delivering personalized, multidisciplinary care and advancing innovative therapies for patients with complex cardiovascular conditions.
