Titus K. Schleyer, PhD

Bio

Dr. Titus Schleyer is a Research Scientist at the Center for Biomedical Informatics of the Regenstrief Institute and Professor of Biomedical Informatics at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He leads the Indiana Learning Health Systems Initiative, which is focused on using everyday patient care data to improve the health of and healthcare for people in Indiana. A recent focus of his is the intersection of climate change, health and informatics. Climate-related changes such as extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and temperature fluctuations have increasingly serious implications for human health. Biomedical informatics is essential to supporting our attempts to understand, mitigate, and adapt to climate change. Dr. Schleyer is the founder and chair of the AMIA Climate, Health and Informatics Working Group.

Dr. Schleyer is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of biomedical informaticians and has received several awards for his commitment to education. Notably, he co-directs the National Library of Medicine-funded Public & Population Health Informatics (PHI) Fellowship at Indiana University, while also providing ongoing mentorship to trainees across various other programs.

Dr. Schleyer holds DMD and PhD degrees from Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, a DMD degree from Temple University, Philadelphia, and an MBA degree in Health Administration from Temple University. He is a fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics and the American Medical Informatics Association. His research is primarily funded by the National Institutes of Health, and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
