Dr. Prasanna Ponugoti graduated from Guntur Medical College, NTR University of Health Sciences, India, in 2006. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, where she also served as Chief Resident, and later pursued her Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Louisville. She is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and has more than a decade of experience caring for patients across diverse clinical settings.
Her clinical expertise includes gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), swallowing disorders, esophageal stricture dilation, colorectal cancer screening, polypectomy, capsule endoscopy, esophageal variceal banding, and a range of luminal disorders. She values shared decision-making and combines evidence-based medicine with a holistic and preventive approach to patient care.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Ponugoti is passionate about value-based care, quality improvement, patient safety, Lean Six Sigma strategies for workflow efficiency and sustainability, and workplace well-being. Combining her extensive clinical experience with her administrative interests, she is actively pursuing a Physician MBA at the Kelley School of Business (Class of 2026) to expand her expertise in healthcare systems management.
