Bio

A fascination with the eye and its complexities drove Amir Hajrasouliha, MD, to choose ophthalmology as a specialty during his time in medical school.

Having earned his degree from Tehran University of Medical Science, Dr. Hajrasouliha studied ocular immunology in the Schepens Eye Research Institute at Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Following that he went on to complete residency in Louisville, as well surgical vitreoretinal fellowship in Chicago; His desire to pursue both research and clinical interests brought him to Indiana University School of Medicine.

His practices include the medical and surgical management vitreoretinal diseases in children and adults. His research includes ocular angiogenesis and the oxygenation of the retina in diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration and retinal occlusion diseases.

Hajrasouliha said he enjoys working with young, aspiring doctors because they look at medical issues with fresh minds. They’re able to see things in a new light, he said.
