Bio
Dr. Grayson is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at IU School of Medicine. She graduated from the Medical Scientist Training Program at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2012 with her MD as well as a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology. She completed her residency in General Surgery at Vanderbilt in 2017, followed by a fellowship in pediatric general and thoracic surgery at Indiana University and Riley Hospital for Children.
Dr. Grayson is committed to surgical education in the United States and abroad and joined the faculty of BethanyKids Kijabe Hospital (BKKH) in Kenya in 2020 as a consultant pediatric surgeon and educator. She is board certified in pediatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery and the College of Surgeons of East, Central, and Southern Africa.
She is actively involved in quality improvement and outcomes research at BKKH, reducing pediatric central line associated bloodstream infections by 50% in her first few years. She has received multiple teaching awards, including the National Outstanding Resident Teacher Award from the Association for Surgical Education in 2017. Originally from Oklahoma and now married to a Boilermaker, Dr. Grayson and her husband enjoy traveling, photography, and board games.
