Bio
Dr. Peter S. Pang earned his undergraduate degree from Brown University in 1995. Following a post-baccalaureate year in Boston, he attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He then returned to Boston to complete his Emergency Medicine residency through the Harvard-affiliated program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Pang began his academic career at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Over a decade, he advanced to Associate Chief and Associate Director of Experimental Therapeutics within the Center for Cardiovascular Innovation. In 2014, he joined the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he serves as clinical faculty at both Methodist and Eskenazi Emergency Departments.
His academic focus is acute heart failure, inspired by mentorship from the late Dr. Mihai Gheorghiade. Primarily as a clinical trialist, Dr. Pang authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications, with research supported by the AHRQ, NHLBI, and AHA. He has led or served on steering committees for numerous national and international acute heart failure trials. For a decade, he was an Associate Editor for JACC: Heart Failure.
Dr. Pang has held several leadership roles at Indiana University School of Medicine, including Vice Chair for Strategic Innovation (2018), Vice Chair for Operations (2019), Interim Chair (2019), and was appointed Rolly McGrath Professor and Chair in 2020.
He is deeply grateful for the love of his wife, Jennifer, his partner of over 20 years. Together, they share the joy of raising their two awesome sons, Joshua and Jonathan.
