Bio
Dr. Christopher Mastropietro joined Riley Hospital’s Pediatric Critical Care in 2013 and served as Medical Director for the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) from 2014 to 2019. He current serves as the Director of Cardiovascular Research and Education. In this role, he spends much of his non-clinical time pursuing clinical research projects and providing mentorship to pediatric critical care trainees and junior faculty.
Dr. Mastropietro is passionate about advancing pediatric critical care. In addition to his work at Riley Hospital, he is also a prominent national expert on pediatric cardiac critical care. He currently serves on the Research Sub-Committee of the International Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society. He is also the founder and Co-Director of CoRe-PCICS: Collaborative Research from the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society, which conducts multicentered observational studies focused on improving clinical outcomes for children with critical cardiac disease. He has authored 90 peer-reviewed publications including original research manuscripts, review articles, editorials, and book chapters, and has served as a co-editor for three pediatric critical care textbooks.
In his spare time, Dr. Mastropietro is an avid cyclist, and enjoys relaxing by listening to music and watching baseball.
