Dr. Ludwig currently serves as the Medical Director of the breast program at Schwarz Cancer Center at Indiana University Health North Hospital and is associate clinical professor of surgery for the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Ludwig received her medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA.
Prior to joining Indiana University, Dr. Ludwig was in private practice in Dallas, TX.
Her clinical focus is surgical management of breast disease, including breast cancer, benign breast conditions and management of individuals at increased risk of breast cancer.
Dr. Ludwig’s research varies but focuses on surgical management of breast cancer. She has served as co-investigator to more than 15 peer reviewed publications.
Dr. Ludwig is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology and American Society of Breast Surgeons. She currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Patient Safety and Quality Committee of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and has been a member of the Breast Fellowship Training Committee of the Society of Surgical Oncology since 2016.

Dr. Ludwig has contributed to more than 15 peer-reviewed publications focused on management of women with breast cancer, benign breast conditions, and those at increased risk. She has authored 4 book chapters and has collaborated with investigators both at the IU School of Medicine and in other areas of the U.S. She served as lead investigator in a national project entitled, “Home Recovery After Mastectomy: Review of Literature and Strategies for Implementation.”
Dr. Ludwig's clinical interests involve all aspects of breast care, including surgical management of women with breast cancer, benign breast disease, and surveillance/risk reduction of high risk women. Her surgical interests include nipple sparing mastectomy, oncoplastic breast surgery, and axillary management. She is an editorial reviewer for national journals such as the American Journal of Surgery, Annals of Surgery, and Annals of Surgical Oncology. She has written book chapters on managment of lobular carcinoma in situ, complications of breast surgery, and management of high risk pathology.
