Bio
Dr. Bernath is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine and a board-certified Family Medicine physician with IU Health. Dr. Bernath joined the IU School of Medicine faculty in August 2025.
Dr. Bernath obtained her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in Neuroscience. She completed her MD and PhD at the Indiana University School of Medicine and the Medical and Molecular Genetics department.
Dr. Bernath is interested in adult personalized and preventative medicine. She studied multi-omic (genomic, proteomic, transcriptomic) and multimodal (blood, CSF, neuroimaging) data to study the role of metabolic disease in the early detection and prevention of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Dr. Bernath studied the association between triglycerides and AD-related endophenotypes, using the amyloid-β, pathologic tau, neurodegenerative, and vascular abnormalities (A/T/N/V) research framework for AD biomarkers.
