Bio

Dominic Vernon, MD, specializes in patients requiring cosmetic or reconstructive surgery of the face. Areas of expertise include: nasal obstruction; facial fractures/trauma; reconstruction after skin cancer resection; and free tissue transfer for extensive facial reconstruction and surgery for facial paralysis. Dr. Vernon also performs facial cosmetic surgery, including facelifts, browlifts, rhinoplasty and upper/lower blepharoplasty.

Dr. Vernon joined IU School of Medicine faculty in 2019, following a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Dr. Vernon completed his residency at IU School of Medicine Department of Otolaryngology and is thrilled to be back on staff.

“IU School of Medicine's Department of Otolaryngology is very unique in that it has excellent surgeons who are also excellent people. I consider it a great privilege to be able to work in such an environment."

Dr. Vernon's academic interests focus on improving clinical outcomes for facial paralysis. One ongoing project is investigating gracilis free flap outcomes in irradiated patients. Future studies include work on incomplete facial paralysis (Bell’s palsy), investigating additional surgical options and earlier intervention for these patients.

Outside of patient care, Dr. Vernon enjoys spending time with his wife and son. Hobbies include running, sketching and movies.

Dr. Vernon sees patients at IU Health West and Eskenazi Health downtown.
