Dr. Saxon has been the Director of Medical Gross Anatomy at Indiana University School of Medicine-Evansville since 1999. This lecture/lab course covers the basic anatomy of the entire human body, incorporates clinically relevant topics, and includes a comprehensive laboratory dissection of the human body.

As a classically trained neuroanatomist, Dr. Saxon’s research interests are principally in the field of neuroscience. Although the innervation and autonomic control of the upper alimentary and respiratory tracts was his initial area of interest, he has over the last number of years turned his attention to the function and dysfunction of the vestibular system. He has developed a novel rodent model for transient and episodic vestibular disruption and published a series of scientific papers characterizing the asymmetric activation of the vestibular system, inferior olive and cerebellum during unilateral transient and episodic vestibular disruption. His technical training includes; electron microscopy, neuroanatomical tract tracing, immunocytochemistry, neurochemistry, and a variety of other related neuroanatomical methodologies.
