Leaders in artificial intelligence (AI) from academia, industry, health care and research gathered for the fourth annual health care AI conference February 11-12 at Regenstrief Institute. Co-hosted by Regenstrief, the IU Indianapolis AI Consortium and the IU School of Medicine’s Department of Biostatistics and Health Data Science, the two-day, engaging event brought together Indiana experts to explore the transformative potential of AI in health care.

Regenstrief’s Shaun Grannis, MD, MS, Brian Dixon, PhD, MPA, Kun Huang, PhD, and IU Indianapolis’s Shiaofen Fang, PhD, led the conference with a focus on sharing experiences, fostering collaboration and building partnerships to advance research and innovation.

With AI ever developing, the conference, hosted at Regenstrief, allowed these professionals to showcase the latest developments, including successful use cases, emerging challenges and cutting-edge innovations. Attendees heard from a diverse range of speakers, including:

The 2025 Health care AI Conference provided a platform for attendees to connect with peers, share ideas and collaborate on impactful projects. Experienced AI professionals and those just beginning to explore this growing and expansive field contributed to the conference by engaging, learning and adding to the next big breakthrough in health care AI. New to the conference this year was a poster session where students were able to present their work using AI in health care to the AI leaders. It was an important opportunity for students to get feedback on their work and network with leaders in the field.

Conference leaders and their additional roles include: Dr. Grannis is a research scientist and the vice president for data and analytics at Regenstrief and a professor of family medicine at the IU School of Medicine. Dr. Dixon is a research scientist and director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics at Regenstrief and a professor at the IU Indianapolis Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health. Dr. Huang is a research scientist at Regenstrief and chair of the Biostatistics and Health Data Science department, chair of genomic data science in the precision health initiative at IU and a professor at IU School of Medicine. Dr. Fang is a professor and the associate dean for research in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering at IU Indianapolis.
