Bio

Eric Swanson, MD is from Arlington Heights, Illinois and obtained his medical degree from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University. He will graduate from the IU Triple Board program in 2025.

Why Triple Board at IU?
I chose the IU Triple Board Residency because I am interested in working with children and families with developmental disabilities, and IU has many resources for learning how to care for these families who live with disabilities. I also appreciated that IU offers several clinical sites including Riley Children's Hospital, Eskenazi Hospital, and the VA, as this allows access to a wide variety of patient populations and develops practice versatility, which was important to me in a residency program.

Career Interests:
As of now, my specific career interests include psychiatric and medical care for individuals with developmental disabilities as well as psychiatric and medical care for those in the LGBTQ+ community.

Outside of work:
I enjoy spending time outdoors and look forward to exploring all that the Indianapolis area has to offer during my residency. I also like to learn how to make new foods, try new restaurants, read, and stay physically active! IU has numerous professional and recreational groups for residents, and I look forward to taking advantage of these as I learn more about them!
