Bio

D. Wade Clapp, MD, is the H.H. Gregg Professor of Oncology, Interim Director of the IU Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, and a Distinguished Professor at Indiana University. He also has a faculty appointments as a Professor in Microbiology & Immunology/Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Medical and Molecular Genetics. Dr. Clapp was named the Interim Director of the IU Cancer Center in June 2026 and he is also became an active member of the National Academy of Medicine in October 2020.  He is a neonatologist and a physician/scientist with an active lab and NIH grant support focusing on translational research. His research has been internationally acclaimed and has resulted in several clinical trials. He is also past director of the MD/PhD program at IU which is now an NIH designated Medical Scientist Training Program.
