Bio
Dr. Andrew Gorman is a laboratory animal veterinarian and Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) with over a decade of experience across academic, government, and industry research settings. He serves as Director of the Laboratory Animal Resource Center and Attending Veterinarian at Indiana University School of Medicine.
Dr. Gorman’s work focuses on supporting investigators while ensuring high standards of animal care, regulatory compliance, and program integrity. He is particularly interested in building collaborative relationships between veterinary teams, researchers, and institutional leadership, and in creating systems that make high-quality animal research both efficient and sustainable.
Before joining Indiana University, Dr. Gorman held leadership roles at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and in the preclinical research industry, where he worked closely with multidisciplinary teams and contributed to the oversight of complex research programs. His background includes clinical veterinary care across multiple species, program leadership, and active involvement in IACUC and maintaining regulatory compliance.
He is known for a thoughtful and measured approach to leadership, with an emphasis on clear communication, practical problem-solving, and supporting teams in doing their best work. His professional interests include program development, mentorship, and advancing ethical, high-quality animal research.
Dr. Gorman received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine and completed residency training in laboratory animal medicine through the Tri-Institutional Training Program (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Weill Cornell Medicine, and The Rockefeller University).
