Bio
Chelsea Horwood, MD, currently serves as Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Horwood received her medical degree from Saint Louis University.
Before joining Indiana University, Horwood completed her residency training at The Ohio State University. During residency, she also obtained a Master's of Public Health degree with a focus on clinical and translational research at The Ohio State University’s School of Public Health. She completed her two-year fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care and Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at Denver Health and the University of Colorado. Prior to joining the IU School of Medicine team, she was at Baylor University in Dallas, TX, for the last two years in practice.
Her clinical focus is in trauma, acute care and critical care surgery. Horwood’s research focus is on clinical outcomes and systems-based safety. She has served as an investigator for more than 18 peer-reviewed publications.
Horwood is a member of the AAST, SCCM, EAST, and ACS. She currently participates in multiple national committees.
