Bio
Jake Rysted received his PhD in neuroscience from the University of Iowa and brings broad expertise in molecular, imaging, electrophysiological, and computational approaches to study neurological disorders. His doctoral work focused on the role of mitochondrial calcium in neuronal function and disease. During his postdoctoral training, Rysted expanded his expertise to include systems-level circuit approaches to identify mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration. He most recently worked as an assistant research scientist, developing novel cognitive behavioral paradigms, in vivo imaging strategies, and computational models to examine how α-synuclein alters neuronal activity and cognition in rodent models of neurodegeneration. Rysted joined Biomarker Core and works closely with Jeffrey Dage, PhD, with the goal of advancing the discovery and validation of translational biomarkers for neurological disease.
