Bio

Luke C. Dabin studied Biochemistry at The University of Birmingham, UK, between 2008-2012. Graduating with a 1st Class Hons MSc, they then applied for and were awarded a Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation scholarship to study Japanese in Tokyo. After one year of intensive study they passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N3 level and began an internship at RIKEN's Brain Science Institute, mentored by Jiro Takano in the Takaomi Saido laboratory.

There their interest in amyloid protein broadened to proteopathic neurodgenerative diseases, and they began graduate studies at University College London, supported by The Leonard Wolfson Training Programme in Neurodegeneration. They studied DNA methylation in sporadic Prion Disease patient blood under the mentorship of Simon Mead and Emmanuelle Viré, and in 2019 they graduated with a PhD in Neuroscience. They immediately began a postdoctoral position in the Jungsu Kim laboratory, where their current focus is on omics and computational biology, particularly single-cell studies of Alzheimer's Disease mouse models.
