Bio

Dr. Rupa Radhakrishnan is a tenured Associate Professor of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at the Indiana University School of Medicine. A recognized leader in pediatric and functional neuroradiology, she is also the Director of Pediatric Neuroradiology at Riley Children’s Hospital and the Medical Director of the Medical Imaging Research Institute at Indiana University Health. Dr. Radhakrishnan has been an active member of the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences for over seven years where she most recently served as the Interim Division Chief of Neuroradiology.
 
Dr. Radhakrishnan’s other past and ongoing services to the Department and IUSM include her roles as Associate Division Chief of Neuroradiology, Co-chair of the Radiology IMPRS medical student research program, Advisory council member through which she also serves as an Ex-com member-at-large representative, and member of the RADPDMT. She is also a member of the Faculty Development Coordinating Committee Member at Indiana University School of Medicine.
 
Dr. Radhakrishnan completed a diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Cincinnati and dual fellowships in pediatric radiology and pediatric neuroradiology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She holds additional certifications in pediatric radiology and neuroradiology from the American Board of Radiology.  Dr. Radhakrishnan earned a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research and will be graduating from the Physician MBA program from the Kelley School of Business in April 2025. Her training is augmented by her participation in multiple leadership programs such as AUR Radiology Management Program and the Leadership in Academic Medicine Program (LAMP) through IUSM.
 
Dr. Radhakrishnan’s service extends to national committees including the RSNA, ASNR, ASFNR, ASHNR, and ASPNR. She serves on the editorial board for The Neuroradiology Journal and has received accolades as a radiology manuscript reviewer. She is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences, delivering keynotes and lectures on pediatric functional MRI, neonatal neuroimaging, and neuroradiologic manifestations of pediatric diseases.
 
Dr. Radhakrishnan is an NIH funded researcher whose multidisciplinary collaborative work is focused on the impact of prenatal substance exposure on placental impact and maternal, fetal and infant neurologic function.  She has also received foundational research grants from the RSNA, ASPNR and ARRS her work. Her collaborative federal funded research also includes neuroimaging in cerebral malaria and diabetes mellitus.
