Bio
Ginat W. Mirowski, DMD, MD, FAAD received her medical degree from the Harvard Medical School and her dental degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) in Boston, MA. She completed a residency in Oral Medicine at HSDM, a medicine internship at U of Massachusetts, in Worcester, MA and a residency in Dermatology at the University of California San Francisco.
Dr. Mirowski and her husband, Stephen F. Wintermeyer were recruited to Indiana in 1996. She joined the faculty with a joint appointment at both Indiana University School of Medicine and Indiana University School of Dentistry. Early on, Dr. Antoinette (Toni) Hood encouraged Dr. Mirowski to apply to the Women’s Dermatology Society (WDS) for a mentorship award. Dr. Mirowski considers herself very fortunate to have won this important award where she spent time with Dr. Libby Edwards studying Vulvar Dermatology.
In addition, she worked with Dr. Evan Farmer and Dr. Tony Hood seeing Graft vs. Host Disease and Dr. Charles Lewis seeing patients with autoimmune and infectious diseases and many patients with HIV. Thus, began a wonderful career with a developing specialty in Mucosal Dermatology (Oral, Genital – male and female and HIV).
In 2004 Dr. Mirowski transitioned to part time faculty but continued to see patients at Dr. Patrick Logan’s office on the east side. Throughout this period, Dr. Mirowski continued to publish and lecture locally, nationally and internationally. Last year Dr. Mirowski was promoted to Clinical Professor.
In February 2019, Dr. Mirowski returned to the Dermatology Department (out-patient center in Indianapolis) where she sees patients of all ages with mucocutaneous disorders. She has been active in WDS, the Dermatology Foundation. She is the author of greater than 115 articles, chapters and electronic publications.
When she is not teaching, seeing patients or otherwise working, she enjoys blowing glass, knitting, cooking and a variety of outdoor activities. She recently climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with Steve and her sons, Michael and David. Her two sons who were toddlers when they first moved to Indiana are both computer programmers in Seattle and Washington, D.C.
