Bio

Dr. Salih's academic interests are in medical ethics, teamwork and using simulation in communication and education research. She actively participated in the development of the ethics curriculum for neonatology fellows and is currently responsible for the implementation and evaluation of the program. She also has a long standing passion in perinatal communications between parents and the healthcare teams, especially the decision making process. Dr. Salih is also interested in team communications in the NICU. She is currently conducting a collaborative translational study investigating how teamwork communication is affected by a structered debriefing intervention using in-situ simulations. Dr. Salih also enjoys her role as a clinician educator caring for ill newborns and their families and teaching, mentoring undergraduate students, medical students, residents, nurses and fellows. She is also a member of several hospital committees including IU Health Ethics Committee, IU Health Pediatric Code Committee, Riley NICU Research Committee. She also serves at IUSM Clinical Assessment Committee, IUSM Curriculum Reform Committee and IUSM Medical Student Mentorship Committee. She is the ethics elective course director for pediatric residency program. She is also a faculty member at RESPECT. At national level Dr. Salih enjoys serving as the co-director for APA Bioethics SIG.
