Bio
Dr. Cooper is a Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine, Director of Simulation Education for the Department of Emergency Medicine, and Executive Director of The Simulation Center at Fairbanks Hall.
Dr. Cooper graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in 1997 and an MD in 2002. He completed his Emergency Medicine (EM) residency at Indiana University in 2005, at which point he joined the faculty at IU School of Medicine. Since 2008, Dr. Cooper has been involved in simulation education to include undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education. From 2010-2013, he served as Assistant Program Director for the department of EM. In 2013, Dr. Cooper was appointed as the Director of The Simulation Center at Fairbanks Hall, one of the largest simulation centers in the country, supporting simulation education for IU Health, IU School of Medicine and IU School of Nursing.
He currently serves as the Director of Simulation Education in the Department of EM, and is active in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare as a member of the Research Committee, EM section, and IPE affinity group. In addition, he developed and directs the IUSM Simulation Elective for 4th year medical students and Faculty Development in Simulation Course, a regional offering to faculty from all professions.
