Bio

Dr. Julie Welch is Professor of Emergency Medicine, Vice Chair of Faculty Development, and Director of Mentoring Training for the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (ICTSI). She was a founding member of the IUPUI Mentoring Academy and serves as the faculty mentoring liasion for Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM). She champions issues surrounding faculty development, mentoring, physician wellness, work-life policies, and women in medicine. She currently divides her time between academic emergency medicine at IUSM and IU Health Methodist Hospital, the Indiana CTSI, and initiatives at the local and national levels.

For her continued commitment as a physician, leader, and mentor, she was recognized with the IUSM Clinical Excellence in Faculty Mentoring Award, IU Trustee Teaching Award, Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association National Mentorship Award, IUPUI Outstanding Women Leader Award, and AMA Inspirational Physician Honoree. In addition, under her leadership as Vice Chair, the Department of Emergency Medicine received the 2021 ACEP Emergency Medicine Wellness Center of Excellence Award.
