Jeffrey Kline, MD, received his MD from the Medical College of Virginia, followed by an emergency medicine residency via research fellowship at the Carolinas Medical Center. He now serves as associate chair of research and Brooks Bock Chair of Emergency Medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He is the present editor-in-chief of Academic Emergency Medicine.
Kline will present "Decision Rules in Emergency Care" at the Airway, Breathing, Celebration CME event as part of the Department of Emergency Medicine residency program's 50th anniversary celebration. He said, "I want the audience to understand how to use decision rules, which rules to use for what conditions, and how they can increase revenue and decrease medical malpractice liability."
Question: What are you most excited about when you think about the future of emergency medicine and the next generation of physicians?
Kline: Use of AI for producing medical records, and AI for immediate image interpretation.
Q: What advice would you offer to current residents or early-career emergency physicians as they navigate their training and careers?
Kline: If you aren’t the lead dog, the view never changes.
